B.I.O.TOX®

Category: Feed Grade

1) Effective against the most common mycotoxins
2) Prevents adverse eff ects of mycotoxins
3) Increases performance of animals

Description

What are mycotoxins?

Mycotoxins are toxic substances that originate from the secondary metabolism of several strains of mould fungi. These metabolites are toxic to vertebrates and other animal groups, even in low concentra􀆟 ons. Mycotoxins have different negative impacts on animal performance, including growth, fertility and reproductive performance. The U.N.’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) estimates that about 25% of crops worldwide are affected annually with mycotoxins (Witlow L.W. et al., 2010).

Mode of action

Prevention is the main target, but unfavourable weather conditions do not always make prevention feasible. Therefore, many mycotoxins are frequently found in contaminated commodities. In order to obtain complete decontamination, a blend of binding agents is clearly indicated. B.I.O.Tox® is a blend of different silicates with different structures. Due to its special structure and a combination of hydrophobic and hydrophilic surface properties, different mycotoxins can be adsorbed by B.I.O.Tox®. B.I.O.Tox® traps the toxic substances within the matrix of sorbents by steric and electrostatic interactions.B.I.O.Tox® Binds aflatoxins, ochratoxins, zearalenone, T-2 toxin and fumonisins Prevents detrimental effects of mycotoxins Results in higher animal performance
